Since the adoption of Security Council Resolution 2250 in 2015, there is growing recognition that as agents of change, young people are critical actors in conflict prevention and sustaining peace. International Youth Day 2017 is dedicated to celebrate young people’s contributions to conflict prevention and transformation as well as inclusion, social justice, and sustainable peace. To help commemorate that Day, and help increase young people’s contribution to the peace and security agenda, IMCS Pax Romana is initiating two main activities. The Twitter Chat on “Youth Building Peace” will take place on August 11th 2017 at the commemoration day. Simultaneously, a Call for submission of articles and Pictures on “Youth in Peace, Security and Conflict Resolution” will be launched. The aim of these activities are to improve young people’s concern to International Development issues through a relevant use of social medias.
While the Twitter Chat will help commemorate the International Youth Day 2017, the Call for Submission will be the way to strengthen IMCS Pax Romana contribution to Youth at the center of inclusion, social justice and sustainable peace. The Twitter Chat will host a Young person with relevant education or background on peace and conflict resolution field, with strong leadership skills. The guest will have the opportunity during the Chat to expand his/her knowledge on the field and explain how IMCS Intl Pax Romana team as many Youth led organizations can significantly contribute to Peace and Security all over the World. The Call for submission will be an opportunity to establish the actual overview on youth participation in conflict resolution and sustainable peace worldwide. The authors of the best articles will help develop an official publishing on “Youth Building Peace by IMCS Pax Romana”. Young people of IMCS network need to acquire social media for advocacy skills, while working together on important projects from different countries and point of the World through Social Media.
